I am offering 2 classes through Headwaters Outfitters in Rosman- 
Feb 26-27 and March 12-13.  


I am available to schedule a WFA or CPR class for your group.  6 or more participants are required to schedule a class.  Contact me at christie@oxbowriversnorkeling.com or call or text 270-339-5395 for more information.

Cost:
Wilderness and  Remote First Aid  (WFA) only-  $160
WFRA plus CPR AED certification - $200
​CPR only $50

Important:
CPR is a prerequisite for the class- if you are not taking CPR/AED with us, you must present proof of certification the day of class to receive your  WFA certification. 

The course book for American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid along with the pocket card is included with the class price and you will receive your book upon arrival to class.

Those 14 years old and up are welcome to join our class, all participants will be asked to sign a release form and bring the day of class or email the signed form to christie@oxbowrivernorkeling.com
What to Bring:
Upon sign up, you will be emailed a gear list along with other pertinent information. Please dress in layers and be prepared for weather as we will be going outside for scenarios rain or shine.  
Course Description:
This course will provide you with a foundation of first aid knowledge and skills to be able to respond to emergencies and give care in areas and situations that do not  have immediate medical  services  (EMS), such as wilderness areas or remote environments.  You will develop leadership skills, learn to work as a team, and learn  to prevent, plan for and respond to emergencies.  At the end of the course you will be certified in American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid for two years.

  • first aid kits
  • primary and secondary assessment 
  • evacuation and calling for help
  • shock and heart attack
  • chest injury
  • head and neck injury
  • allergy and anaphylaxis
  • wounds and bleeding
  • bone and joint injury
  • burns
  • hypothermia and heat related illness 
  • lightening and drowning ​
Reasons to Take Course:
This certification is great for anyone who hikes/backpacks, paddles, camps, hunts, mountain bikes, for  those who work at summer camps, for someone going into the medical field,  for someone who is planning on going on a medical mission trip, or anyone who wants to be able to help when EMS is delayed due to circumstances or distance.

ORS Policies for Classes and Workshops

Class Reservations and Final Payments
Oxbow River Snorkeling accepts course participants on a first-come-first-served basis. Full payment of the stated course fee is required to reserve space in the course.   Individuals age 14 and up are welcome to participate in the course.  

Cancellations & Refunds 
For a FULL REFUND minus a $30 administration fee, a request for cancellation MUST be made at least 30 days prior to the course by contacting us at christie@oxbowriversnorkeling.com or calling 270-339-5395.  However, a full refund (minus a $30 administration fee) will be provided for spots cancelled within 30 days  "only' if the spot can be filled. If the spot cannot be filled, the balance will not be refunded.    
 
Risks and Responsibilities
WRFA classes have outdoor scenarios as part of the learning experience.  Participating in any outdoor activity exposes you to many unforeseen variables that may cause harm.  It is possible for you to become injured,  no matter what outdoor activity you choose. Whether you are hiking, backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, snorkeling, mountain bike riding, or just driving a car, there are many variables that can at any moment become a disastrous reality. Oxbow River Snorkeling does not assume liability for injury or illness to you; and you will be asked to read and sign a “Medical Release and Assumption of Risks and Responsibilities Form” prior to your course and bring to the course or email to christie@oxbowriversnorkeling.com
